An animated journalist

A week in a picturesque landscape of Nasutów, surrounded by luscious green grass and towering trees, with clear skies above there are many opportunities for inspiration. It was a perfect scenery for Grzegorz Konopski, a young and talented mind who wanted to use this occasion to bring his animating and filming skills to the next level. Little did he know that the course will put his journalistic and reporting skills to the test which he had little to no idea about.

28 year old Grzegorz came to Nasutów on 7th of May on a rainy night with the camp organizer, Daria Jaranowska. She asked him to bring his skills to the table for the Team Up training course where an inspired movie about the topic of youth was already in the collective imagination of its participants. The first day of the filming camp brought to Grzegorz’s attention that it will not be a typical film camp he attended in the past.

Many hard-hitting topics were moved on the first day: politics, London riots, feminism and propaganda to name a few. His new colleagues included young people from Turkey, Britain, Germany and Poland, they too have ignited his interest in language, politics, music and travel. Just a few minutes he had to talk to any of them made him want to travel the world and see the wonderful sceneries of their nativelands.

Day by day Grzegorz realized that though he was brought in because of his ability to bring the characters he drew to life he found out quite fast that his stay there will be more challenging than drawing a whale in a top-hat in outer-space. Day by day he was to leave his comfort zone of animating and composing music for writing articles and planning interesting shots for the ambitious documentary about the movie his colleagues were to create. Unfortunately nothing came to mind when it came to the article at hand. A blank page was mocking him as he struggled to fill up even a paragraph with a sensible, logical sentence that was to the point.

As the deadline grew closer and closer and his team leader was snapping photo after photo the stress found out to be more than he could handle as he sat in silence only broken by the sound of his keyboard as he was pretending to write anything of interest. So perhaps now is the time to leave him to his thoughts and let him work under the critical eye of his group leader, Daria. Grzegorz, we wish you enjoy the rest of the sunny days under the Nasutów’s sky.
