Our media camp is running. After the lectures with Dionne Walker - producer from London, we splited into 3 group: video report, short movie and PR (making of). Youth4Media would like to introduce you one of our participants: Laura Beusmann. Let’s have a look on her profile:

It took her 20 hours to travel by train from Western Germany to the edge of Eastern Poland, where the 3rd European media camp of Team Up is taking place. “This media camp resembles a small island as it is surrounded by nature and only connected to the outside World by Wifi for social media and the cultural differences of the participants“ says Laura, 23, from Germany who’s taking part for the first time in the training organized by Youth4Media. “I am doing a part-time internship at a civic media institution in Germany. But besides my studies, I often don’t find the time to get as much roped into the media as I’d like to“ stresses Laura who is currently writing her BA thesis in Politics and Law.
“My studies are quite theoretic and I was missing a creative tool to express myself. Here it is different: We have nine days of filming, talking about filming and transmitting ideas into moving pictures. For Laura, discussing the London riots and Gezi protests with film makers from Turkey, England and Poland was quite inspiring since she had been in Istanbul during the Gezi protests last year. “I have a Turkish friend who reported about the protests in Istanbul and now I am meeting people from London who have done documentaries about the London riots. It is interesting to see and discuss the different approaches towards
such a subject and I am learning quite a lot by speaking and working
together with all these enthusiastic people.“
After her BA thesis, Laura wants to go back to Beirut where she had spent some monthsas a trainee for a political foundation in 2013. “I felt like making short movies about my experiences and impressions in Lebanon but I didn’t know how to transmit them into video. I think that after this training I will be better prepared to prepare and plan my ideas for making films etc“.
