International Day of Non-Violence

The United Nations General Assembly voted on 15 June 2007 to establish the 2nd of October, on the Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday, as the International Day of Non-Violence.

Gandhi was the pioneer of the philosophy and strategy of non-violence. Nowadays, his theory inspires non-violent movements for civil rights across the world.

The non-violence’s concept is connected with a culture of peace, dialogue, tolerance, respect and solidarity through education and public awareness.
