Volunteer Europe TV

Youth workers and media trainer of our network partners from Denmark, Latvia, Turkey, Italy, Greece, England and Germany joined new project, which has started in February 2011. Volunteer Europe TV is an international youth project which support the promotion of volunteering, intercultural dialogue and media literacy in the European Union.

The project managers elaborated the work plan during the kick-off meeting in Münster and they started the production of a first film report about ecological volunteerism in Münster. In ongoing productions the Youth will create an international web-TV magazine about the manifold facets of volunteering in Europe. They will build up an online platform of youth media, where the views, the opinions, the interests and the engagement of young volunteers will be represented.

The partners AKO Bennohaus, Y4M Network and BUT-TV from Denmark are very engaged in community media, they will be in charge of the media trainings. About 200 Young volunteers from 7 countries will be intensively trained in video journalism and cross medial journalism until summer 2010. By online Learning and face to face training courses they will be educated to Peer-Mediatrainers and get involved in creating media reports about different kinds of volunteering and youth initiatives in their countries.

The next training course took place from 29.08. – 05.09.2011 at Media centre BUT-TV in Denmark. Participants have produced the youth tv-magazine „Volunteer Europe TV”, which will be broadcasted in several community media TV channels in Europe and via internet (www.europeanweb.tv).

Youth workers from the partners Next Media Group (Latvia), Consortio SIS (Italy), Global Soma (Greece) Inclusive Arts (UK) and ARI (Turkey) will be qualified as MediaTrainers and they will extend the media activities in their NGOs. These NGOs will also contribute to the network of young volunteers and produce several film reports, highlighting different aspects of Volunteerism in their national context.

One long-lasting result of the project will be a creation of a multimedia information kit. It will demonstrate volunteering in a wide range of EU policy areas such as social inclusion, policies affecting young people, integration of migrants and other aspects like the promotion of an active European citizenship, fighting the “digital gap”, and within corporate social responsibility.

On the upshot the volunteers will organize an informational campaign (“Volunteers days”) which will make use of the newly created media materials and will be presented in all cities of the partners network. It will raise the awareness about the value and importance of volunteering for the life career and civic participation of the Youth.
