Another world is possible

Izmir is a large city in the Western of Turkey and this city is the third most populated city in the country after Istanbul and Ankara. The population of Izmir is around 4 million. And we can safely say that there are a lot of friendly people which live there.

Öykü, the 22 year old Turkish girl, came to Istanbul to get education from the city of Izmir when she was 18 years old. She moved to Istanbul which is the biggest and the most crowded city of Turkey. Now she is studying at the Istanbul Bilgi University in the department of television reporting and programming.

There are a lot of differences between the city of Istanbul and Izmir. That is why Öykü is still trying to get used to living in Istanbul and it can occasionally be hard for her. There is no doubt she misses her lovely hometown sometimes.

However, the city of Istanbul has opened the doors for lots of international experiences to her. Two years ago, she found the Youth Art Research and Training Association in Istanbul. Her first international experience with this association was in Italy. She joined a photography training course in Viterbo. And that was just the beginning.

Exploring different cultures, travelling around the world, meeting some amazing and unforgettable people and training her intercultural experiences have been so exciting for her. And she had realized that the more she explores the world the more she explores herself, day by day.

All in all, at the end of this year, she is going to graduate from university and working in the media field. She definitely believes in the power of media. In her opinion, media is determining what is going on the world most of the time. So if you want to change something, you have to know how to use media. People have to be aware of their own power because the world should be a better place for humanity.

In other words, there is a different world waiting for us. And we hold our destiny in our hands. Robin Williams said it best:

“No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world.”
