The Bicycle Guy from Turkey

They say, the first thing that came out when he was born were his feet, on a snowy Istanbul morning in 1990. In that time, Firat Büyükcoşkun was born. Everyone was suprised except of his grandfather, because he knew that his grandson was going to carry his legacy of using his feet to pedal and travel the surface of this old planet. That is why he bought his grandson a bicycle as soon as he was born so that he could learn how to ride a bike before learning how to walk.

To capture the images of his life, like the ones of his grandfather, he started using an image recorder that later people would call “a camera”. The next image that he caught on film was that of his university. He studied there film which in time helped him capture better photographs of his life. He learnt how enliven random images by bringing them together in the
right form. It was like making life itself to him. The next image after studying Film and Television came immiedately after; Master’s degree in Communication Studies. He learnt how to communicate through his images and make his life even brighter.

Next big picture he faced was the one in which he met Murat Akbıyık, the president of an association called Youth A.R.T. He introduced him to the youth media field. Afterwards he became a board member of Youth A.R.T. and a member of its media team. Now he is looking forward to conduct and carry out several media trainings to introduce media to people, especially young people. That is why he was overzealous for his training in Münster, Germany. Throughout the training he was trained to be a great trainer.

With Youth4media’s contribution, he and his friends will be the key representators and practitioners of the CMIPD project in Istanbul. Empowering the social life with exciting content, this team is looking forward to produce great films. They will become an important asset for the membership process of Turkey and European Union.

In the end, his bike wheels will pave way for the new generations and people who are willing to widen the way for their followers. Let’s hope it will be a way paved by amazing ideas.
