Piňa Colada Day

“My point is, life is about balance. The good and the bad. The highs and the lows. The piňa and the colada.” Ellen DeGeneres

Piňa colada is a sweet coctail from Puerto Rico, where since 1978 it is considered a national drink. It is made with rum, coconut milk (or coconut cream), and pineapple juice, served blended or shaken with ice and a slice of lemon or pineapple. In a more expensive version it is served in a hollowed-out pineapple. According to IBA the ingridiens for a piňa colada should be:

  • 30 ml of white rum
  • 30 ml of sweet coconut cream
  • 90 ml of pineapple juice
  • ice

"If you like Piňa Coladas, and getting caught in the rain [...] I'm the love that you've looked for, write to me, and escape" sings Robert Holems. And with his words I totally agree. Piňa colada is an explosion of flavors of pineapple and coconut, which causes us to return to the Caribbean. This unique drink combines not only tasty ingredients, but also unique experiences. You can prepare it as fast as you drink it. My favourite version of piňa colada is the one with a whipped cream! admits one of piňa colada's fan.
