InDVT - Inclusive digital video training in youth work

The project Inclusive Digital Video Training in Youth Work (InDVT) aims to increase the capacity of youth workers and trainers in using digital video for inclusive non-formal education.

In the last years the inclusive digital video training becomes more and more popular in the formal education and sometimes it is even officially used in the educational curricula, but in most of the cases the out of school activities still does not involve standardized approach in using the digital video. One of the main reasons for that is not the lack of digital video materials, but the lack of methodology and systematic approach which enables the youth workers to select the appropriate materials in their work. The selection of video resources for training purposes is a process and needs some qualification. While it is already identified as a problem in the formal education and there are already some debates and proposals how to select such resources for formal education ( ) there is still a lack of such materials for youth non-formal education.

The project fits in the partners priorities and is considered as possibility to improve the partners work in the area. For example, SCAS is using digital video tools to motivate the youngsters to learn some youth work aspects, Werft 22 is managing digital video platforms for education, Youth4Media “is giving young people a voice trough digital media”, The Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (Faculty of Economics and Management) is working on students entrepreneurship skills using modern media (including video). NSICC is also using modern media for career consultancy of youngsters.

Concerning the European policies, the project addresses “Promoting the professional development of staff and youth workers in ICT methodologies” priority via developing training materials for youth workers and trainers on using digital video for inclusive non-formal education.

The project addresses “Promoting young people's social inclusion and well-being” via training the multipliers (youth trainers and youth workers) how to encourage youngsters (via modern
media) for active citizenship.


The project proposes concise methodology for the selection of digital video resources for non-formal inclusive youth education.

There are three core principles that trainers/youth workers need to consider when planning the training: how to teach the content to make it accessible (representation), how the students will show what they learned (expression), and how to motivate all the learners to do their best work (engagement).

Those three principles- representation, expression and engagement - are the cornerstones of training methodology proposed, and are the keys to planning motivating, accessible curriculum for the diversity of learners, for example in international youth exchanges.

The project will develop practical cases/examples how to use digital video for particular inclusive trainings. For example, in the work with street connected youth, out-of-school youth etc.

Currently, there are more than 82 000 videos in YouTube, related to “inclusive education” search. In such big variety, trainers could lost themselves and it is very difficult to assess the content, quality and educational aims of the particular video.

There are materials for the digital video usage in the formal education (primary and secondary
schools, so called K-12 students) but there are not much materials and especially there is no methodology for non-formal youth education. The recent Erasmus+ projects also shows deficiency in this point (inclusive digital video for non-formal youth education). The current project tries to fill-in the gap in this area.

The main project products/activities involving the above basic training principles will be:

- Methodology for selecting digital video for inclusive purposes;

- Online Learning Management System with training materials and practical cases suitable for youth workers/trainers;

- Training of youth workers (capacity building


Project partners:

Student Computer art Society (SCAS), Bulgaria, has experience in managing international projects in the field of modern media and youth work and thus will lead the project consortium. SCAS has experts and volunteers (students) in the field of using modern media training tools in youth work. SCAS will also provide digital video processing experts, web and graphic designers.

Werft22, Switzerland, will provide know-how for online Learning Management System (LMS) and multimedia data-bases (LMS is one of the project products). Werft22 has many years of expertise in the field of online educational video platforms.

Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, Faculty of Economics and Management, Czech Republic (in Czech language - Ceska Zemedelska Univerzita v Praze), will provide expertise in methodology development of digital video selection and usage in non-formal education. The university has also significant experience in Erasmus+ projects and will also care about the quality of the training products.

European Youth4Media Association, international association based in Germany, have competencies in the trainings how to use modern media in the youth work. The association Youth4Media will be responsible for the training activity (capacity building workshop). The dissemination of the project products will rely also on the European network of the association (52 organizations from 32 countries).

National Student Information and Career Center (NSICC), Bulgaria, will be responsible for dissemination of project results on international, national and regional level. NSICC has experience in coordination of and providing methodological materials to student information and career centres in Bulgaria. NSICC has also contacts with respective centers in Europe.

The project is funded by the European Commission's Erasmus+ Programme, in the frame of "KA2 – Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices: Capacity Building in the field of Youth"
