Journalist´s Day

When I said aloud that I will be a Journalist, my family just react in the opposite way as I expected. “When will we see you on TV?”, “Let´s look for a famous footballer as Casillas” or “Well, just try to find an easy job where you earn lot of money and almost don´t have to work”.

And still, four years later, some of my relatives comment the same.

But these are not the reasons why I chose Journalism. Not at all.

Do you remember that huge pederast´s case where lots of children where raped by a catholic priest from Massachusetts and how Boston Archdiocese tried to hide it? Maybe you remember that case not by Pulitzer Prize The Boston Globe won, but I am sure you know “Spotligh”, the movie.

This case its based on real Journalism.

What about that black and white picture, icon of D-Day? Or how Vietnam´s war finished after that picture with a little girl running naked after has being splashed with napalm.

In Facebook you follow newspaper and media channels. In every bar there is a TV with Journalism.

“Journalism is the best occupation in the world”, as Garcia Marquez said. You will not be famous or rich, actually you will need money so many times, but working with truth, opening your mind after finding out information and showing to people, that's something money cannot buy.
