All Saints' Day

It's the time of remembrance and reviere.. Today Christians are celebrating All Saints' Day.

All Saints' Day is an important day for the Catholic Church and is celebrated annually on November 1. It also accurs in Roman Catholic Church, Angelican Communion, Methodist Church, the Lutheran Church and other protestant churches. Eastern Orthodox  Church and the Eastern Catholic churches celebrate it on the first Sunday after Pentecost as the Sunday of All Saints.

In Poland, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Finland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Lithuania, Croatia, Austria, Romania, Moldova, Hungary and Catholic parts of Germany, the tradition is to visit graves of deceased relatives and light candles there.

In Portugal, Spain, and Mexico, offerings are made on this day. The play Don Juan Tenorio is traditionally performed in Spain. In Mexico, All Saints' "DĂ­de los Inocentes" (Day of the Innocents) is celebrated and there is also the first day of the Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) which honours deceased children and infants. In Portugal, children go door to door where they receive cakes, nuts and pomegranates. It occurs only in some areas around Lisbon and it's called the PĂŁpor-Deus tradition.

In the Philippines ("Undas", "Todos los Santos" - literally "All Saints", and sometimes "Araw ng mga Patay" - "Day of the dead") for three days people visit the graves of deceased relatives, where they pray, leave flowers, it candles and clean, repair the graves.

In Austria, Belgium, France, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Portugal, Spain, and American Cities such as New Orleans people take flowers to the graves of dead relatives.

In English-speaking countries, the festival is celebrated with the hymn "For All the Saints" by William Walsham How. Catholics generally celebrate it by having a day without physical exertion.
