European Athletics Championships 2016

European Athletics Championships 2016 took place between 6th and 10th of July 2016 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

July – that was the month of hot atmosphere! All because of the Football European Championship 2016. But did we not forget about something else?

At the beginning of July European Athletics Championships took place in Amsterdam. 1469 athletes applied to take part in the competition – it was the highest amount of participants ever.

Contestants from Russia didn’t appear in Amsterdam – as the All-Russia Athletic Federation was suspended by the International Association of Athletics Federations. The issues of failing antidoping tests in Russia most probably will cancel the participation of Russian also in Rio (Olympic games).

The competition was high and many athletes needed to give their best to win the gold medal.

In the end - the country which won the most - was Poland. With 12 medals (6 golden, 5 silver and 1 bronze) Poland topped the medal table – first time in the history of this country. Germany was the second and Great Britain the third one.

Congratulations to all and let’s wait for Olympic games in Rio. In that time there will be no UEFA championships so hopefully the medallists will get the attention which they deserved.
