Act locally & "Think globally!"

14 partner organisations of the European Youth4Media Network joined the international training course “Think Globally!” on 08-15. March 2016, in Skopje, Macedonia and shared their good practices in media education of young people, and its means of reflecting on global issues.

30 youth workers and youth leaders joined the event in the Macedonian capital to improve their knowledge and develop their skills and competences in the field of media education of young people. Participants were especially focusing on global education matters by different means of media (photo, video, written journalism), and tackling such topics as the current migration flows in Europe and international connections with the Global South.

Youth workers not only shared their own organisations’ good practices, but also got insight of the activities of some local networks connected to the previously mentioned field and topics. Participants appreciated the input from e.g. Mladiinfo and ALDA. The representatives of the organisations shared their own experiences about the Erasmus+ Programme and the local host Volunteers Centre Skopje introduced them to their ongoing Capacity Building project.

During the training course, youth leaders were creating quality media products (photo stories and short videos) to develop their knowledge and skills, but also to promote the event not only on local, but also on national and international level as well. All products are available online, on the network’s official website and its Facebook page.

Participants were thankful for an active week spent together, and for all the useful information they received during the training course. After all those good practices and brainstorming, it is time to put their own ideas into action. The organisations are eager to continue the cooperation and not only act locally, but also: “Think Globally!”
