Journalistic Academy, Team Up for Youth – Empowerment of civil society engagement and digital creativity 

 

The two years 4.6 Youth in Action project coordinated by European Youth4Media Network aims to increase civil society engagement, participation, inclusion and media competences of youth in the European society. Team Up for Youth encourage and qualify youth workers, volunteers and young people. They gain media competences, journalism and trainer skills which are key qualifications tofoster active participation and intercultural communication in Europe. The project implant innovative training courses within the range ICT/media competence intercession, citizen journalism, project management and political education.

 

From 31.03 until 08.04 Y4M carried out the "Team UP Engagement Academy for Journalists" in Bennohaus in Münster (DE). Together with BBE, BVBAM, GRTV from Denmark, International YouthInicitive from Spain and Nowy Staw Foundation Youth4Media prepared a training for. 24 young activists from Germany and the European Union. The participants were citizen media professionals, students, volunteers, NGO staff and aspiring journalists. The seminar was carried by Y4M.

Trainer Daria Jarnowska admittes: “Civil society engagement and youth participation is essential for representative democracy in Europe”. The young reporters got a professional introduction to the use of audiovisual media. An expert of the national network of civil engagement (BBE) provided an in-depth thematic input and intensive exchange with each other. The participants produced 3 films and a multimedia blog about civil society engagement, EU election in May 2014, youth unemployment in EU and a documentary about „100 years world war“. All outcomes will be used in a second edition of Team Up international video magazine and published on YouTube and afterwards in open channel tv „nrwision“.

The next Team Up training course will take place in
