People and Places

The first mobility was hold in Lithuania from 22 to 24 November 2013. Main reason to organise this mobility was to get to know each other better, to create common rules and obligations on the further progress of the project.  Next to this we discussed the way of communication, planning dates of the upcoming mobility’s and we created the idea for a travelling canvas, a face book page, a web blog and the questionnaire. All the partner countries send in representatives to this mobility.

Short explanation and outcome of:
The canvas is an 8 meter long cloth that travels from mobility to mobility with the aim to create inter-generational solidarity between older and younger generations. The first 6 meters have been are already filled in by learners and by invited youngsters during the first 6 mobilities. In all these mobility activities  learners have been working alongside each other and develop a sense of European cooperation and share experience and good practice in a way that develops their own knowledge and competence.

The Common Questionnaire was develop during the first (preparation) mobility in Lithuania defining the informal and non-formal educational needs of today's youth and it during the process of implementation it was examined by older generations participants as mentors. The outcome of the questionnaires was evaluated by the partner organizations during the last mobility and will be continuation in the mobility in Italy.

For communication and dissemination of our Grundtvig project we created a face book page (https://www.facebook.com/pages/People-and-Places/186392251552001?ref=hl) and a weblog (http://grundtvig-people-and-places.blogspot.nl/)

Until now, mobility activities have been taking place in: Lithuania, from 22/24 November 2013(the kick-off meeting); Turkey, from 26/28 March 2014; Estonia, from 04/07 May 2014; Lithuania, from 07/11 May 2014; Italy, 27/31 October 2014; Spain, 12/17 January 2015.

Through these mobilities we created a variety of interactive art activities addressing people from different age groups, thus to contribute to the solidarity between generations. The impact of a wide variety of art activities contributed in free expression through common art activities. Younger and older people where able to express their perceptions of the surrounding they were living in through their own points of view. It also increased the awareness of European cooperation and learning opportunities. The result of this was that some participants finally felt European.

Next mobilities: 30th March-3rd April 2015, in Botosani, Romania; then, in May-June 2015, in the Netherlands. In addition, in their own countries, at local level, each project promoter conducts a set of activities involving local partners and participants. Some of the activities carried out by the promoters in their home towns, but within the context of the “People and Places” Grundtvig project have been promoted on the project’s face book page which link is mentioned above.  In this respect, in December 2013, we carried out together with the County Museum-Ethnography Section, and in collaboration with a local High School, in Botosani, Romania the activity entitled “School of Masks” and uploaded a short video about that on project’s page.

The activity aimed to get the young people closer to rural traditions in connection with winter festivals and preserving the cultural heritage by transfer of knowledge from the elderly to the young. Further on, some other activities were held in Botosani(RO) around the themes of family history and tradition (an exhibition of old family photographs displayed at the County Museum) and then, a cultural event at the High School of Arts (belle art).
