Media for Inclusion and better labour market opportunities

Bennohaus was working on a curriculum for low-threshold migrant labor in Istanbul.

Münster/Istanbul. Social- and citizen media for inclusion and better labor market opportunities: These are the aims of a learning-partnership called GRUNDTVIG that was initiated from Bürgerhaus Bennohaus Münster in the year 2013. Together with partners from Finland, Denmark, Turkey, Greece and the UK the association of the Bennohaus, „Arbeitskreis Ostviertel e.V.“, was working on a new curriculum for low-threshold migrant labor in addition to raise their chances on employment market and integration. After a first planning meeting in December 2013 and another project meeting in Thessaloniki, Greece, in May 2014 there was a penultimate meeting in November in Istanbul, Turkey. In May, first methods of adult education were compiled. Now the methods were tested and some media products were developed.

Consistent to the topics inclusion and employability the roundabout 30 participants produced galleries, radio and video reports plus a project-blog in the internet. For example the video group was working on the theme of „Unemployability in Istanbul“, another reported about the situation of migrants and refugees in Turkey. The radio group was testing a program for creating radio reports and were concerned with „Saturdays mother's day“ which is a silent protest from Turkish mothers who lost their men or sons in war or fights. The idea of the protest is to reach attention of policy and public.

„This is a great project, because it unites people from different origins while they are working on a topic together“, project leader Arndt Selders from Arbeitskreis Ostviertel e.V. summarizes, „By that there is a quantity of creative ideas“.

Parallel to group work, the final event in May 2015 was prepared. The project will be finished with an international meeting in Sheffield, UK.
