Let's hack into digital media

Youth4Media in Cyprus. "Media Hackers" is an EU funded project, taking place in the frames of the "Leonardo da Vinci" educational program. Overall eight partners from Belgium, Greece, Germany, Cyprus, Romania and the Netherlands, including the European Youth4Media Network association, are involved in this project.

Between 6th and 7th of March Youth4Media visited Cyprus Community Media Center in Nikosia to participate in a Focus Group Meeting with the partners. Facing the digital change and its impact on journalistic work, the project partners develop a flexible training concept, consisting of enhanced training materials and a broad seminar design. The idea of the project is based on the successful 2008 "MediaTrainer" project (www.media-trainer.org), but is now focusing on journalists and their daily work life.

In order to find out about the actual training needs of journalists, all partners conducted a survey among journalists and media professionals in their respective countries. In addition, they launched a broad research campaign on already-existing vocational training offers and institutions in the partner's countries. Based on these results, the Cyprus Community Media Center developed the first draft of the training concept. In the frames of the project, Y4M is responsible for planning, conducting and marketing of the project in Germany.
