Empowering cultural diversity through music

Music has the power of breaking borders between different cultures. It travels all over the wolrd making the people dance and enjoy. That´s why it is a necessary element for cultural diversity development, because through the music we can join anothers cultures and understand thought and feelings from people from different countries. Music makes as feel more similar, doesn´t matter what kind of culture you belong to.

Many musician use their songs and sounds to promote and encourage cultural diversity. One of those examples are some Spanish music bands and singers, like Joan Manuel Serrat. He was born in Barcelona in the 60´s, and his lyrics are so good that you can feel identified with them. One of his most famous songs is La fiesta. Aparentely, the lyrics describes a party in a small village but it hide a message of peace and unity between people from different countries and cultures.

Chambao is another Spanish band who sing to demand some advances about cultural divesity, specially protesting againts racism. Lo verás is a protest song but the sound is very easy and relaxing. Chambao is considerate a cultural band in Spain because they have many cultural projects.

The redefinition of music is not just limited to changes in different eras and geographic spaces any more; it is desirable throughout one’s lifespan. The more complete definition of music one develops, the richer and more meaningful life experience one has. A rich and meaningful life experience... Isn’t this desirable for all humans? Isn’t this a right which everybody should have? Isn’t this what parents want to give to their children, and teachers to their students? You can get it with music.
