Final Event and Exhibition „Ways out of Poverty“

On the 21st and 22nd of September 2011 a steering group meetings of the project „Art & Media” took place in the Citizens’ Centre Bennohaus in Germany.

The project Art & Media is on its home stretch. The steering group evaluated the outcomes so far and set the dates for the final touring exhibtions in e.g. Istanbul (Turkey) and Kristiansand (Norway). Responsibilities for the final report activities were also agreed upon. A positive conclusion of the project was ascertained.

The steering group meeting took place during the launch of the touring exhibition date in the Bennohaus in Muenster (Germany) as well as during the final event broadcast of the project Art & Media.

There some of the best movies were shown and in between project partners discussed about the movies, exhibitions and the project in general. The meeting also took place during the first award ceremony of the 1st International Citizen Media Award 2011 which as a side action was taken into life in the frame of the project Art & Media.

About 100 visitors joined the opening of the exhibition and the presentations of the art films in the framework of a tv-broadcast live streamed on the internet. The audience was really impressed by the images of digital art work and the manifold audiovisual facets how to overcome poverty and social exclusion. The digital creativity and the cultural diversity of the art work produced by the youth was amazing.

More than 50 art works from all over Europe were created in the framework of the project. All contributions showed a wide spectrum of different aspects of social exclusion and poverty. The two years project “Art&Media – Ways out of Poverty” was realized by NGOs from Germany, Jordan, Poland, England, Bulgaria and Norway. The best of all digital art work has been presented in an one hour short film show attended by posters and pictures. The financial and economical crisis boosts poverty and social exclusion worldwide.

“Art&Media – Ways out of Poverty” aimed to support the digital creativity of young citizens and tries to relieve poverty and exclusion. It intends to increase the role of intercultural and inter-religious communication to all levels of life by using art and digital media as tools.

There have been several trainings, seminars, workshops and youth initiatives in the field of digital creativity and intercultural communication. Youth and young artists from schools, NGO´s, youth organizations and community media have been engaged voluntarily in local art initiatives, workshops and international meetings. They created art work of manifold designs as there are digital pictures, photo- and video collages, short films and music clips. The best of their art work is presented on Art&Media exhibitions in Thessaloniki (GR), Aarhus (DK), Riga (LT), Istanbul (TR), Milan (IT), Lublin (PL), Hannover (DE), Kristiansand (NO), Amman (JD), Rishon Le Zion (IS) and Dobrich (BG). The admission to the exhibitions are free of charge.
