Let's debate

Let’s debate project is an initiative to encourage and qualify citizens to use digital media for promoting citizens participation and active citizenship. The principal aim of the project is to impart intercultural learning and European political education to multipliers and citizens with the involvement of the digital media.

The project program focused on citizens who have few possibilities to take active part in the digital communication technologies of the information society in Europe. Thanks to the project we qualified citizens in the sphere of creative digital media, gave participants the competences necessary for establishing mutual cooperation and intercultural dialog between citizens of different European regions.

The project promoted media, political education concerning the topics of the current EU-politics (Reform Treaty, integration, youth education, European projects) and various cultural programs among citizens in Europe.

The basic principles of the projects were political, intercultural and media education as well as participation for citizens. The project promoted the new media as attractive means of communication and tools for intercultural learning and political education.

Intercultural dialogue via web-TV – the project introduced participants to the idea and methods of promoting intercultural dialogue with the help of the web-TV platforms. Participants got to know how to broadcast local and European events (such as European Intercultural Festival in Münster, Germany) all over Europe with the help of NGOTV and Open Web-TV (http://ngotv.eu/, http://www.owtv.de/).

The content of the project laid emphasis on the questions of the European treaty, political aspects of active citizenship, fostering democracy in Europe, and promoting dialogue between the nations with special involvement of the Member States that joined EU after 2004.

The innovation of the project was the integration of the trainings and seminars with important European events in the sphere of political education and intercultural dialogue: Economic Forum of Young Leaders in Poland and Intercultural Festival in Germany.

Developed media skills and acquired cultural, political, social competences during the project trainings were used by the participants for productions of films, TV-magazines and live broadcasts from the events. Education and trainings were intertwined with creativity and participants’ reflections in media products. Qualification of participants from different countries helped to establish international team of reporters (NGOTV team) who continues to cooperate on the European level after the project is finished.

Investment in training of citizens and already build-up infrastructure http://ngotv.eu/, http://www.owtv.de/) ensured sustainability and flexibility of the common activities in future.
