Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi

It is finally that time of the year again! Two years after Disney launched the new Star Wars trilogy with ‘The Force Awakens’, the 8th episode is going to hit the cinemas on the 15th of December. Never did Lucasfilm handle a movie in such a mysterious way. One line of the first teaser made every Star Wars fan discuss the upcoming plot. Luke Skywalker, the assumed last Jedi stated: “It’s time for the Jedi… to end”.
What leads someone who tried so hard to build up a new Jedi Order to such a drastic statement? Well, the answer should be in 2 hours and 30 minutes of a new Star Wars movie. The Last Jedi (TLJ) will bring down Revenge of the Sith as the longest movie of the franchise. Director Rian Johnson promised a far darker atmosphere than The Force Awakens witch should also contain “one of the biggest plot twists ever”.
What happened before Luke Skywalker vanished and new heroes as Rey, the deserted stormtrooper Finn and Poe Dameron joined the Resistance in the fight against the dark First Order? Evil Sith Lords ruled their empire in the galaxy until the last Jedi Luke Skywalker defeated them. 30 years later the First Order has risen from the ashes of the Empire. Its leaders, Snoke and Kylo Ren, are fighting against the newly formed Republic and Jedi Order. Eventually they destroyed the Jedi Order and Luke Skywalker vanished. Only a new Jedi-wannabe called Rey could defeat Kylo Ren with the help of the former stormtrooper Finn.
Episode VIII will start at the exact same point, the previous one ended. Rey finally finds Luke Skywalker on a remote island and hopes to be trained as a Jedi.
With the two trailers released, the viewers knows that they will face epic battles, on ground and in space and a story with many ups and downs. Besides the development of the characters, new ones will be introduced like ‘DJ’ who will be played by no one else than Benicio del Toro.
The fans of The Force Awakens are tensely awaiting the movie and hope it will answers some questions the last Film left behind. However, it will be one of the most anticipated movies in the year and has given high expectations.
May the force be with you!
