Cyber Monday

Today is Cyber Monday - the craze about shopping seems not to cease. This time we will do online shopping!

The first Monday after Thanksgiving Day in USA ((the fourth Thursday of November) is called Cyber Monday. Monday after Black Friday (read more about Black Friday here) was for people who didn’t buy what they wanted or didn’t get the proper discount and have a possibility to reach it online.

Cyber Monday is the day of online shopping. In the article 'Cyber Monday' Quickly Becoming One of the Biggest Online Shopping Days of the Year we read: „While traditional retailers will be monitoring store traffic and sales on Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving), online retailers have set their sights on something different: Cyber Monday, the Monday after Thanksgiving, which is quickly becoming one of the biggest online shopping days of the year. For the past few years, online retailers have found that sales on the Monday after Thanksgiving have been creeping higher, giving retailers an additional reason to be jolly during the ceremonial kickoff to the holiday season. According to the Shop.org/BizRate Research 2005 eHoliday Mood Study, 77 percent of online retailers said that their sales increased substantially last year on the Monday after Thanksgiving, a trend that is driving serious online discounts and promotions on Cyber Monday this year” (http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/cyber-monday-quickly-becoming-one-of-the-biggest-online-shopping-days-of-the-year-55695037.html).

The idea od Cyber Monday was the possibility for online sellers for the promotion of their values. The phenomenon of Black Friday was perfectly used and established as an official Day: „So what's up with this Cyber Monday idea? A little bit of reality and a whole lot of savvy marketing. It turns out that Shop.org, an association for retailers that sell online, dreamed up the term just days before putting out a Nov. 21 press release touting Cyber Monday as "one of the biggest online shopping days of the year.” The idea was born when a few people at the organization were brainstorming about how to promote online shopping, says Shop.org Executive Director Scott Silverman, who answered his phone, "Happy Cyber Monday." They quickly discarded suggestions such as Black Monday (too much like Black Friday), Blue Monday (not very cheery), and Green Monday (too environmentalist), and settled on Cyber Monday. "It's not the biggest day," Silverman concedes. "But it was an opportunity to create some consumer excitement.” (https://www.cbsnews.com/news/celebrating-cyber-monday/).
