Exchange of good practices – Study visit nr.04.

Youth4Media hosted the last Polish study visit group of the project „European Quality of Public Policies” between 10-14th July 2017. The aim of the cooperation was to offer an insight of good practices and sectorial collaboration taking place in Münster, Germany.

The visitors represented different non-governmental organisations from Poland and are active in the following fields: rural community development, culture and education. The group was hosted by the management of Youth4Media. Besides explaining the wide variety of activities implemented by the organisation, the visitors participated in sessions about the Citizen Centre Bennohaus and its departments: Mediending (pedagogical department focusing on children and teenagers), MNSTR.medien (citizen media channel offering media training for young adults). The group was informed about the educational offers of the Centre: senior courses, cultural events, etc. Besides Bennohaus, the guests visited the following 3 local institutions:

Kulturamt – The Cultural Office of Münster is run by the city itself and responsible for the financial support of local institutions (incl. theatres and citizen houses), smaller and bigger scale cultural projects.

Freiwilligenagentur – The Volunteering Agency manages a huge database of volunteering opportunities, such as providing social support for disadvantaged children coming from low-income families. Besides, they offer different courses in the field of volunteering.

JIB – The Youth Information and Education Centre is coordinating and offering a wide variety of activities for young people. The Centre offers counselling for youngsters, but provides tools and space for woodworking and music rehearsals alike.

The guests were lucky enough to arrive at a time, when Münster counts as one of the most important cultural hotspots of Germany. The group visited not only the castle area and the botanical garden, but spotted a few installations in the frame of the contemporary art event, „Sculpture Project” as well.
