Självantänd!

Is it possible to mix hip hop and swing and create an awesome song? Of course yes! Three crazy guys from Sweden who call themselves MOVITS! do it and they are undeniably amazing.

Johan Jivin' Rensfeldt (vocals), Anders Rensfeldt (multi-instrumentalist and DJ) and saxophonist Joakim 'One-Take' Nilsson come from Luleå a city on the coast of northern Sweden with about 75,000 inhabitants. The name of the band relates to Fader Movitz, a character in the "Epistles of Fredman" poems. However, the band replaced the last letter with 's' to not be with bands performing dansband music style. The members of the band have never thought about an international career when their first album Äppelknyckarjazz (trans. apple swiper jazz or scrumping jazz) was released in 2008. In the same year they were invited to an American TV-show - Colbert Report.

MOVITS! never wanted to define the music genre they do even though their roots are in hip hop. They were asked to be part of an electroswing compilation and actually that was the first time they heard about this genre! And it clicked! During the concerts the stage is more empty rather then filled with equipment: two CD-Players and the DJ-mixing console, a drumpad, three microphones, the saxophone and sometimes a guitar. Johan sings and and he is a stage animal, Anders plays the tracks, adds some live drumming on the pads and Joakim plays the saxophone. Anders and Joakim also do the background vocals. Sometimes they invite other musicians to their live shows. It all works perfctly! The energy they have at the concerts it's just unbelievable! It's not only entertainment for the listeners but also for the band itself. Lisa Haalck went to MOVITS! concert in Münster:

"Movits: good vibes, good mood and incredible energy on stage performed by three fabulous Swedes... There is nothing that can be combared with Movits!"

What's more, an important part of their stage image are also the clothes which became a trademark of the band. Those three handsome men always wear white shirts sometimes with bow ties, elegant shoes and black trousers. Female part of the audience will be fully satisfied. MOVITS! is one of those bands which must be experienced live. And trust me - it doesn't matter that the songs are only in Swedish... actually it makes the band even more unique!
