La La Land... right?

Sunday. 26th February 2017. Dolby Theatre Los Angeles. The biggest event of Hollywood took place.

The Academy Awards, formerly known as the Oscars! These statuette, given annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, are the most important award for someone who works in film industry. They are given in a lot of different categories which range from 'visual effects' over 'sound mixing' till of course the main categories:  'best actor/actress in a leading role', 'best actor/actress in a supporting role' and of course 'best motion picture'.

The event was hosted by Jimmy Kimmel from Late Night Shows, who led through the show with a lot of humour. He even invited a Hollywood Tour-Bus Group, who had no idea what they were waiting for. And despite one big faux pas the evening went on quite smoothly.

The well planned evening got a little out of hand when Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty the presenters of 'best motion picture' were handed the wrong envelope and, after looking a little bit confused at each other, they announced La La Land as the winner. But half through the acceptance speech of the directors, the misapprehension was revealed, the real winner Moonlight was announced. So in the end, after the confusion had faded, a bunch of people were standing on the stage congratulating each other.

And who won in the other main categories?

Actress in aleading role: Emma Stone in La La Land

Actor in a leading role: Casey Affleck in Manchester by the Sea

Actor in a supporting role: Mahershala Ali in Moonlight

Actress in a supporting role: Viola Davis in Fences

As we can see, not even events as well planned as the Oscars pass by without any mistake. But if we are serious, those are the kind of things that make it unforgettable.
