The change begins
Now it is official. America has a new president. Seventy years old businessman Donald Trump.
At 6pm European and 12pm American Standard Time, Trump swore an oath to lead the country to the best of his abilities as the 45th president of the United States of America. But who is this man, who is rumored to be the most powerful man in the world.
Donald J Trump, son of German American real estate developer Frederick Trump, was born in 1946 in New York City. After graduating from university, he took over the family business and advanced it in various sectors. Today 'The Trump Organisation' owns Hotels, golf courses and casinos all over America and Asia. It also owns a Winery as well as a television production company. Trump has 5 children out of 3 marriages. His current wife is ex model Melania Trump. In 2015 he announced his participation in presidential election in 2016. He decided to run for the Republicans (one of the two major political parties in the US). During his campaign he got a lot of attention, because of his controversial statements and his radical campaign pledges. For example, he wants to build a wall at the American Mexican border, which should be paid by Mexico. Despite this, in November 2016 he won the election with 304 out of 538 Electoral votes.
So what happens now, with a president who is nearly the opposite to the former one? Here are some of Trumps political goals he wants to achieve during his tenure as the head of state. He wants to massively decrease the income tax especially for working and middle income Americans. Also he intends to lower the business tax from 35 to 15 percent. He plans to create 25 million jobs over the next decade, build a wall on the American Mexican border and wishes to use more fossil fuel as energy source. Abortion law is to be changed as well as the immigration laws. Which will make it distinctly harder to immigrate to the USA. There will be major changes in Healthcare because Trump wants to repeal and replace ObamaCare, a healthcare reform law, designed to expand and improve access to care established by former president Barack Obama. Furthermore, the infrastructure is to be renewed and the military to increase. He intends to withdraw from TPP (Trans Pacific Partnership), because China shall be labelled as a currency manipulator. The terms of NAFTA, short for North American Free Trade Agreement, are suppose to negotiate again, with better terms for the US.
For good or bad, we will see where this change will take the world and if America becomes great again.
