Israelis in Münster City Hall

It's another sunny day in Münster where Israeli and German youth met in order to cooperate in the `The walls of Remembrance` project. Participants had the possibility to visit Münster's City Hall. This historical City Hall is located in the centre of Prinzipalmarkt and it's city's dominant landmark.

In front of the City Hall we were warmly welcomed by Mrs Monika Jürgensmeier. After enetering the front door we caught sight of the stupendous interior of Münster's Rathaus. Mr Gerhard Joksch, one of the voluntary city's mayors, invited us to The Peace Hall which was named after the peace treaty between Spain and the Netherlands in1648 bringing the end to the Thirty Years' War and peace in Europe. Undeniably the most interesting part of the Peace Hall was the wall with portraits of diplomats and emissaries who negotiated the peace.

Moreover, we were told lots of interesting information about Münster. As the city is famous for its many bicycles there is a long 4.5-km Promenade which runs around downtown Münster. It's very often used by both bikers and pedestrians. Münster is a city of stuents. In fact, one out of every five inhabitants is a student - over 50.000 students, among which over 3.000 are students from abroad.

After visiting the City Hall it was time for us for sightseeing the city! We were enchanted with Münster's charming streets filled with music and always smiling bikers.
