Team-Up Final

Another media camp, another group to inspire to make a movie, another week full of work and a chance to be creative. That is what it looked like to Grzegorz, one of the trainers on the 6th and the last TeamUp media camp in Münster, Germany.

Being experienced in how media camps look like and being a trainer it was easier to get into work for Grzegorz and the other trainers. After meeting the groups consisting of members from UK, Denmark, Germany, Poland and Finland the leaders quickly got through all the theory about camera so that they could get into the really interesting part which is filming. “For me the best way to learn is to practice that is why we spend majority of classes dealing with the equipment and actually using it” describes Grzegorz. That does not mean that the brainstorming was skipped. It takes a whole day to gather ideas from the participants and decide on a mutual vision. After setting up the filming equipment and choosing the scenarios and roles the groups enthusiastically jumped into the shoes of directors, editors and actors. Not everything can be included and sometimes the scenes must be cut because of time restrains. It does not matter that much when in the end everyone is proud of the final movie. And this time it was no different. The films about fair-trade, poverty and the documentary about the media camp were a great success.

After a hard day’s work there was always an opportunity to stretch your legs and relax. There were a lot of moments that helped the team-mates regain their energy and do something fun: the trip around Münster, visiting local restaurants and pubs and the highlight of every media camp – the cultural evening. Tasting and listening to the food and music of each country always brings a smile to your face and brings the teams closer during the evening’s integration. This time the party was even more colourful because one of the participants, Liam “Kritikal” Powers, surprised everyone with his one-of-a-kind concert in which he sang and rapped while the audience tapped their feet and shook their hips to the melody and rhythm of his intense and powerful performance.

Although it was the last part in the team-up history of camps it is safe to say the products of the media meetings were always top quality. Having the opportunity to work with people from different backgrounds, having various visions and ambitions gives way to great and unique representations of important topics. These comprised of: cultural diversity, social inclusion, racism, social engagement or environment to name a few. Hopefully the future will open new-media with open arms and help the new generations express themselves.
