'Citizen Media for Intercultural & Political Dialogue' has just started

A media project between AKO Bürgerhaus Bennohaus, European Youth4Media Network and YOUTHART Research and Training Association is taking place in Münster (Germany) from the 7th to the 14th of February. Five participants came from Istanbul to join the Module C ‘Train the trainer’.

During one week, Aykut, Caglar, Firat, Umut, Oyku and Marius will be learning methodology for leading workshops and trainings and the tasks and responsibilities of a media trainer. They will increase their communication skills making their own presentation and valuing themselves.

During the first day, after introducing themselves, they took part in the workshops ‘Who is a trainer?’, where they talked about the skills that a trainer should have, like media experience and knowledge, communication skills and creativity, among so many others.

In a practical way, they were also learning about the ways to teach. By pairs, they played a scene showing different teaching styles. Straight after that they debated about the personal, social, professional, methodical and pedagogical competences that a trainer should have.

After lunch was time to join the workshop “Communication”. Learning by games and practical examples, the youngsters were thinking about how to solve conflicts which can come up during a training.

The main objective of the project ‘Citizen Media for Intercultural & Political Dialogue’ is the creation of a citizen media centre in Istanbul. That´s why now, at the workshops lead by Grzegorz Konopski and Daria Jaranowska, the participants will learn about media competences.

Afterwards, they will be part of the citizen media centre of Istanbul in order to lead trainings and record movies on the topics of anti-discrimination, freedom of expression, civil society engagement, inter-cultural understanding, youth education, environmental protection, employability, aspects of candidate membership of the EU, cultural diversity, equality and political education.
